As it turns out, Ms. Hobb wrote the Assassin's Apprentice story as a total of nine books.  All of them are well written, from my view, and take Fitz through many adventures, and againsg numerous adversaries.

A highly recommended trilogy to read, or listen to.

I had accidentally discovered an excellent writer who has spun a tale well over fifteen years ago, which was recently put onto CD, unabridged.  I highly recommend picking up the writings of Robin Hobb, and her Farseer Series.  The first installment of the trilogy is called 'Assassin's Apprentice'.  It follows the adventures, and misadventures of a boy, born illigitimately from the trist of a prince in line for the throne of a kingdom known as "The Six Duchies", and a commoner woman, whom our hero would never know.  He is turned over to the castle at the age of six, to be raised by the stablemaster, and secretly trained to be an assassin for the king.

This book, though a bit slow to start, got me hooked, and made me seek out the remaining two installments, finding them also on CD, as well as paperback.  The second installment is called; Royal Assassin, which finds young FitzChivalry mostly grown up now, doing the biddings of the king to keep people known as 'forged ones'; the result of captives of the raiders who plague their coasts during the summer, from invading their kingdom.

The third installment, called; Assassin's Quest, is what I am currently listening to, as well as reading in tandum, to keep the well written story flowing.  There is much that happens to FitzChivalry over the course of the three books, and will definitely keep you enraptured, as he struggles with his loyalties, love, special talent, known as 'The Wit', and the 'Skill', and fights the treatury and problems faced by the royal family he is sworn to protect.  His loyalties bouncing between the King and one prince, who is the brother of his father.  There is too much to explain here, but I highly recommend reading or listening to this excellently spun tale if you are looking for something different to sink your literary teeth into.

Strewn mess.

Thought I'd have more to write about, more to say, but time eats up my thoughts, and eats up my day.

From home to work, and back again, running here, running there, thought I'd get back to this, but when?

Finally, some chance, a bit of time to write, but my thoughts had left me, the ideas, gone out of sight.

What a mess things have become, our society ruled by the dumb.  Screwing things up, keeping you under their thumb.

Trying to live, trying to survive, working and struggling, sometimes, just getting by.

So this "rhyme" has thus far developed, I dare not say, not much of good management, the chance, widdled away.

Oh well, not a great thing, this writing strewn here, think I'll sign off, and get me a beer.

Ponderings

1. If they can synthesize oil, why can't they synthesize gas as well?

2. The shoe and clothing maker Reebok. What happened to the original Bok, if they are Reebok? HAHA.

3. Can you OVERstand?

4. On an epoxy package, it says 'mix here'. What happens if you don't mix it there? Does the repaired thing fall apart again? HAHA.

5. When will it all come crashing down around us? Soon, I think.

6. (sing it) If we (society) only had some brains.

7. How much money are the drivers making who still race their cars down the road? It's an expensive way to drive now.

8. Why do they label cars as 'Limited'? DUH! They are ALL, LIMITED! They only make so many in a model year. It's a stupid label to put on ANY vehicle.

9. What does it take to make people care about anything?

10. Are turn signals a difficult concept nowadays? You would think so, the way I see the lack of use by rude drivers. Perhaps we should all learn to read minds.

11. If China suddenly and unexplicably disappeared off the face of the Earth, just vanished, what would all the retailers do?

12. What was the chicken doing crossing the road to begin with? It belongs on a farm.

13. What is it now if it's an EX-Box? (C.R. Microsoft) Get it? HAHA.

14. Penny and video arcades. The original 'Play stations'. (C.R. Sony)

If you have any to add, feel free to leave them in a comment. Thanks.

"Wisdoms"

Rumaging through our basement junk room, I came across some "Words of Wisdom", I had created some time ago. I would like to share them with you. Let me know what you think.

Empower the dreamers of a better tomorrow, for they are the most likely to achieve where we have failed. GW (written 10/18/00)

It is a great tragedy to recognize stupidity, and do nothing but shrug our shoulders over it. GW (written 6/22/00)

There is ALWAYS time for communication! GW (date unknown)

And finally;

Just People

Voices, hearts, and minds,
eyes, ears, legs and arms,
moving about, living a life,
Just people.

Seeking meaning, seeking purpose,
getting around, getting by,
just like You and I,
Just People.

Why do we love? Why do we hate?
Your neighbor's like you.
Just people.

We are not gods, not devils,
capable of so much good,
we can do much better, as we should.
Just people. GW (written 10/17/01)

So, there you have them. I know there were more, when and if I find them on the little scraps I used to put them on. I hope to publish the rest.

A new one, added 10/23/11.

How much better humanity would be if moments of clarity were MORE than just moments?
